BollyGuess is a daily Bollywood movie-guessing game at bollyguess.com. This policy explains what information we collect when you play or sign in, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep data collection to what the game actually needs.
What we collect
- Gameplay data. Your guesses, scores, streaks, hints used, and which daily puzzles you have played. This powers the game, your stats, and the leaderboards. You can play without ever signing in — an anonymous profile is created for you so your progress and scores work.
- Account data (only if you sign in). If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google. We store your chosen display name and avatar (shown on the leaderboard) and your email address (kept private — used to recognise your account and to reach you about your account if needed). Your email is never shown on the leaderboard or to other players.
- A custom avatar, if you upload one. If you upload a profile photo, it is stored so it can be shown as your avatar.
- Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how the game is used — pages viewed, puzzles started and finished, approximate device and region, and similar events. Analytics events are tied to your anonymous or signed-in user ID so we can measure things like retention, but we do not use them to identify you personally to anyone else.
- Local storage on your device. We save your in-progress game, your theme/sound preferences, and a cached copy of the day's puzzle in your browser so the game loads fast and remembers where you were. This stays on your device.
How we use it
- To run the game: track your progress, scores, streaks, and leaderboard rankings.
- To show your display name and avatar on the leaderboard (if you have set them).
- To understand and improve the game through aggregate analytics.
- To contact you about your account or important changes, if necessary.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
We use trusted service providers to operate BollyGuess: Google Firebase (authentication, database, file storage, and hosting) and Google Analytics. Your data is processed on their infrastructure under their terms. Your public display name and avatar are visible to other players on the leaderboard; nothing else about you is.
Your choices
- Play anonymously. You never have to sign in. Without signing in, no name, email, or Google data is collected.
- Your display name. You control the name shown on the leaderboard. You can set it, and once set it is fixed to keep the board fair.
- Delete your account or data. Email us at connect@bollyguess.com to request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Clear local data. Clearing your browser's site data for bollyguess.com removes the game state and preferences stored on your device.
Children
BollyGuess is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the date at the top when we do.
